    Job Overview

    We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Commercial Manager who will be responsible for the day to day running of the Commercial department with a core emphasis on management and oversight of the bid team. 

     

    The primary purpose of this role is to execute a work-winning strategy, whilst managing key client relationships and commercial risk within fee proposals and variations.

     

    Primary Activities

    • Supervise the bid team’s workflow, including responding to RFPs, preparing fee proposals, and managing variations in collaboration with the Project Management team, ensuring that all proposals are submitted on time and meet the required standards.
    • Maintain an oversight of the fee generation process, including managing and continuously refining the fee sheet coding, formulas, interface, etc.
    • Manage the negotiation of fees in coordination with other stakeholders, including Commercial Director, Legal, Project Management, etc.
    • Develop and help refine existing performance related KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to continually monitor all aspects of the commercial offering.
    • Closely oversee the sub-consultants RFP, tender and bidding process including the review of the scope and fees received from sub-consultants and the negotiation of the terms of the agreements.
    • Oversee the Commercial Coordinator in developing and tracking the commercial database of bids, project performance and client data to benchmarks and lessons learnt for future bids.
    • Implement, improve, and lead consistent application of the standards, processes and systems pertaining to the commercial functions.
    • Proactively identify and manage commercial risks at both a strategic and operational level working closely with Project Operations and Project Management teams on improving processes to reduce or mitigate risk.
    • Liaise closely with the Contracts Team to ensure that all contractual agreements including variations are appropriately established in accordance with Company’s policies, standards and guidelines.
    • Manage the commercial handover process of projects from the Bid Team to the Project Team.

    • Proficient in developing effective commercial management strategies and crafting tailored business solutions that meet the unique needs of prospective clients across diverse geographies.
    • Capable of understanding intricate client project briefings and translating them into delivery approaches and pricing strategies aligned with market expectations.
    • Strong technical knowledge of landscape architecture, including design, engineering, quantity surveying, and related construction disciplines.
    • Strong understanding of the various stages of landscape design projects and the deliverables associated with each phase.
    • Excellent grasp of commercial and financial aspects, with a deep understanding of how project fees relate to scope, complexity, timelines, deliverables, and the overall value offered to clients.
    • Highly proficient in technical communication and reporting, including the ability to read, write, and interpret technical documentation, RFPs, specifications, proposals, contracts, and tender documents.
    • Proven ability to maintain professional communication with clients, including high-level VIPs, through emails, phone calls, in-person meetings, and virtual conferences.

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualifications preferably in any relevant field such as Architecture / Landscape Architecture / Civil Engineering
    • CMLI or equivalent (preferred)
    • Minimum 15 years’ of relevant work experience
    • High proficiency in spoken and written English
